Pricing
Sydney Web Design prides itself on finding extremely cost-effective solutions on the web.
Step 1: Domain Name
First, select a meaningful domain name. Domain names are portable, so regardless of future changes to your site or host you can take your domain name with you. GoDaddy is excellent value for .COM names at around $US8.95/year. NetRegistry has excellent prices for .COM.AU at around $AUS45 for 2 years, or you may be able to buy the domain through your hosting company.
Step 2: Hosting
Select your hosting company. Jumba is suggested for extremely affordable business and personal sites in Australia. Kiosk is recommended for small US businesses at $US18.95/month for the silver package. Kiosk is an international hosting company, with extremely competitive prices and outstanding support. See the Hosting page for more options.
Step 3: Logos
Consider getting a logo created, to instantly identify your company. It can be as simple as a particular colour and font combination, or a custom-designed image.
Step 4: Photos and Colour
iStockPhoto has royalty-free photographs at amazingly cheap prices.
To experiment with colour combinations for your site, try the free Visibone Colour Chart or the WellStyled Colour Chart for ideas.
Step 5: Templates
Templates are the fastest way to start a website. Some non-CMS templates are at my template page. Choosing a pre-designed template may mean your site can be up and running in less than two weeks. If you choose a template, and are able to email your text content and photos to Sydney Web Design, your site can be made ready for $AUS40/page, excluding any domain/hosting costs.
See the CMS page for suggested template options.
Step 6: Testing
Your site will be tested for compatibility with W3C standards, and viewing through Internet Explorer 6, Opera and Mozilla FireFox browsers. This testing is included in the design cost.
Step 7: Implementation
Implementation is included in the design cost IF your host uses cpanel.
Step 8: Marketing
Your site will be manually submitted to Google and Yahoo using the free submit pages. For an additional $AUS50, directory submission can be arranged.
Step 9: Payment
Payment through Paypal is proposed.
Once terms have been agreed (domain/hosting/template/custom design), a signed agreement must be faxed to Sydney Web Design prior to work commencing.
Payment is due in three stages. 30% prior to work commencing, 30% midway, and 40% when site is complete.
Step 10: Ongoing Maintenance
After implementation, additional changes may be requested at a rate of $AUS50/hour.
